Research
We build compartmental models of infectious diseases, analyse them, and ask which interventions, applied when and how hard, change the course of an outbreak at the lowest cost. The work sits between applied mathematics, numerical methods and data science.

Optimal control of mpox transmission
An SEIQR model with waning immunity and two interventions, transmission reduction and case detection with isolation. We derive the optimality system with Pontryagin's maximum principle and compare intervention strategies numerically. Manuscript in preparation with collaborators at Universitas Padjadjaran.

Modelling hantavirus and dengue transmission
A systematic literature review of mathematical models for hantavirus and dengue, mapping which mechanisms, data and control strategies the field has covered so far.

Mechanistic models meet machine learning
Few studies combine mechanistic dynamics, optimal control, real surveillance data and machine learning in one framework. We are building towards that combination: fitting compartmental models to data and using learned components where the mechanism is uncertain.

Epidemic dynamics: rice tungro, COVID-19 and Zika
Earlier published work on the dynamics and control of plant and human epidemics, together with studies in numerical methods.

Compartmental Modeling Studio
The open-source engine behind the simulation page. Models are written as plain equations; the engine detects parameters, derives the adjoint system symbolically and solves the optimal control problem.
